REST DAY – PARRAMATTA STADIUM/CHILDRENS HOSPITAL WESTMEAD

Nana Torpedo
Today was our rest day but with having to do the banking (a total of $50651.95 of banked money and pledges) and the visit to the
Childrens’ Hospital the day passed quickly. The hospital is quite amazing and Anne McFadden and Michelle gave a very
comprehensive and interesting tour. We were presented with Certificates of appreciation and a special coffee table book of 125 years
of care The Childrens’ Hospital at Westmead. I presented Anne with a book for the oncology ward. We returned to the Stadium and I
had a call from the DJ of 2HHH a local community radio station around Hornsby for an interview which went well. We were given a big
wrap and air time.  Kim had a surprise call from Ray Hadley from 2GB and was on air for a good 8 or so minutes talking about the walk
and he wants to try and double the money by next Friday. Good media coverage today. Some of the others went out for dinner. I will
keep Jock and David company and watch the football. Tomorrow we are off to Campbelltown, now on the homeward track. It only
seems like yesterday that we left Coolangatta. Canberra here we come.

Craig ‘Feathers Fothergill
Went and bought a book for the library at the hospital and enjoyed the diverse environment as explained to us during the tour. The
photos, paintings and quilting along with the gardens, playgrounds and the care in which the surrounds help the children experience
peace and tranquility, in what must be such a stressful time, is a joy to be seen. Finally managed to copy across a very apt and
descriptive photo of ‘Slug and Smudge’ at the pub at Swansea. Enough said!!

Barry ‘Engines’ and Cathy Davis
Even though we had a day off we still arose at the crack of dawn and had breakfast at McDonalds. Cathy bought a new pair of shoes
(very expensive, but she’s worth it). The afternoon was taken up with a very interesting visit and tour of The Childrens Hospital at
Westmead. It was very hard to separate Jock from the kids.

Richard ‘Slug’ Lewin
Spent some time this morning fixing a new ANF to our pole as the old one had battled low hanging trees for some time. Much larger so
we won’t be missed coming in to Canberra. Received a lovely book on the hospital and enjoyed the tour immensely. Can’t imagine
why Feathers chose me for the close up of our ‘Crusty’ shirts. Love to Di and Family.

Ray ‘Jock’ Copeland
Big rain and storms at home but fortunately we are still being blessed with good weather. Fingers crossed it will be with us until the
end at least. Great day at the hospital but you know about that already.

Possum and Dale
Highlights for day 27 – Lay over day at “Parra Stadium”. Yacking with yarns with one of my good ol “young boys” Warren Goodall and
the visit to “Westmead Children’s Hospital and seeing the hard and dedicated workers that tend the these tiny, but very brave, young
children that are suffering with untold ailments – not the least is cancer – that hideous disease usually associated with “older people”
and “smoking”. May God bless them all!!! After a well earned sleep in on our lay day at Parra Stadium, we had a tour of Westmead
Children’s Hospital and gave a donation of a get well bear to the hard workers and children while Possum and I received a history
book of the the Children’s Hospital.
