The Walk
Day 20

Nana Torpedo
Thankfully we awoke to a fine day. The only hitch on the first leg was road works near Hexham Bridge, so uplifted for about 2kms. The
first leg walkers continued to Maca’s where we had a rest and coffee. I started walking the second leg and we were joined along the
way by niece Karen Spencer, her boss Jarrod Eltis and Lauren, who all work at the CBA bank in Hamilton. John Smithies joined us a
bit further down the road. This was PB day walking 15kms all the way from Maca’s to the bank at Hamilton where we had lunch at the
Irish Pub where the owner kindly provided lunch free of charge. We all then walked the rest of the way through Newcastle to TS Tobruk
where the van was unloaded and repacked. We had a visit from an old mate Frank Schiebel who I hadn’t seen for a couple of years.
Tomorrow is a rest day to catch up on washing etc. Karen, Paul and Kate will join us on Sunday for the walk to Swansea.

Pete and Barb Sellars
Inclement weather gone and sun’s out again> Richard set us a cracking pace on the way out of Raymond Terrace…….5.2km in 50
mins …ok for long legged people!! Stroll from Hamilton in to CBD with some wonderful young kids donating. There are a lot of
amazing young kids out there.. Lesson for Engines……….secure all loose gear when going group up to try to get to the front of the
walkers.

Barry ‘Engines’ and Cathy Davis
The weather is great and we’re able to walk all the way. Gathering donations for at least 50% of the way (over $200). The range of
people donating is amazing. Walking through the mall a group of teenage boys stepped up and donated. One of them told us his 14yo
mate is dying of cancer. It’s a sad, cruel, world. On the upside, the pub where we stopped for lunch gave us a freebie so we put what
we would have paid into our donation box  as their donation. Pete and Barb leave us soon. At least this means there will be no more
accidental fence, barbed wire, tree or road damage to the ANF that’s been carried by Pete today. Will it Pete!!

Richard ‘Slug’ Lewin
Walked all the way today. Good to catch up with John Smithies, many stories told and relived and Carol’s niece and others from the
“Bank” helped the walk pass very pleasantly. On arrival at TS Tobruk, another face from a very distant past, Frank Schiebel. There will
be more reminiscing tomorrow. Love to my wife and family.

Craig “Feathers” Fothergill
Walked most of the way today missing out on the last 3km. Looked for more interesting photos but none to be had. A couple of new
faces some of you may remember and our place of residence for tonight and tomorrow T.S. Tobruk. Australia Post hard at work being
held up by “Slug”.

Jock
Left Raymond Terrace and after the initial 5km stretch, the walkers were picked up for a short break and lo and behold, we finished up
at Maca’s for Latte, then came the interesting part, following instructions written on the back page of my crossword book, I finished
10km off course, retraced my steps and luckily was located by Cathy on UHF. Our accommodation at T.S. Tobruk is excellent. Nice
galley and a washing machine. What more could you ask for?

Possum & Bluey.
Another lovely morning with no rain. But a little bit of dew stopped our STB light (again). After leaving caravan park (turning right but not
right around the roundabout, so had to do a snappy U-turn to get back on track. Back on the road behind the walkers and STB light
fixed (again). A quick trip into Hamilton CBA bank (Which Bank) to see Manager and Staff (Carol’s niece) for donations. A lovely lunch at
an Irish Pub across from the bank then a snappy drive to T.S. Tobruk for the weekend.
