The Walk
Day 18

Nana Torpedo
This morning we were joined by Ken and Jean Chilvers. Ken walked with us on the first leg before returning to the Gold Coast. This leg
took us through the town of Bulahdelah. We had to uplift for 30 klms of roadworks which took us to within 16k of Karuah. We resumed
walking and arrived in Karuah a little after noon. The walking crew visited the Returned & Services League on the way past and was
cordially invited by the manager for a Chinese smorgasbord lunch after we had all settled in to the van park. A magnificent lunch was
had by all and even an opportunity to collect some more donations. Back again tonight for the State of Origin…Go the Maroons.

Barry ‘Engines’ and Cathy Davis
Joined last night by Ken and Jean Chilvers. It was great to have another representative of the Engineering Branch along, especially as
we were both ‘properly’ trained at Nirimba and both went SD (Special Duties Officers). Only a short day due to roadworks, so finishing
in Karuah RSL mooching more money.

Pete and Barb
Was quite surprised my tummy was ok after last nights dinner of spicy pies, fish cakes, seafood sticks, chicken nuggets, roast chicken
complete with seasoning, mashed potato and beans and carrots. Thanks to RTA for roadworks and a mini stroll. Even spent five klms
with the better half. Forgot to mention the Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc to wash down all the nice food. A very mild headache fixed in part
by a Panadol.

Jock
Cold this morning and even though we have a very short day ahead of us, we left early. Ken Chilvers (Commissioning crew ONSLOW)
joined us for the first 5k. Arrived at Karuah to a six course Chinese meal and a hug from the lady chef plus a $10 donation. Been
relegated to the camp bed in the cabin but very comfortable.

Craig ‘Feathers..the Moocher’ Fothergill
Couldn’t resist some photos of boys getting their hands wet doing dishes…please note Jenny… and a few serious close ups. New
arrivals, workmen making donations, two of the girls..Cathy and Barbara.. caught having coffee at ‘The Rock’ and a short walking day.
People have been great in their support. Gave a short talk to the RSL patrons on behalf of Carol and mooched some more. Back again
tonight!!!!

Richard ‘Slug’ Lewin
The morning got off to a good start. Engines, told by Jock, his toast was on, proceeded to check out the cold griller instead of the
toaster. Barbara walked in to Cabin 5 instead of 4 and during the walk out of Bulahdelah discovered Adrian in the main street sipping
on a latte. A good brisk walk and then in to Karuah and a welcome by the RSL manager and a free lunch. Love to my wife and family

Possum and Dale
The most moving part of my day was the discovery of a Memorial to a family lost in a car accident, just out of Buladelah, which was sad
and it was right at the start of the massive upgrade…very moving. On a brighter note got some really lovely happy snaps of Engines
and Cathy plus Pete and Barbara Sellars…KISSING!! A nice brisk start to the day..7c with Goomallingdale starting first go..no jumpers
required. A short walk then a good fast drive to charge the battery so hopefully no more problems.
Lovely lunch…..just love my Chinese.
