The Walk
Day 17
NABIAC TO BULADELAH

Nana Torpedo
After a lovely dinner at the Nabiac Hotel some of us left a donation in the gaming room before heading off to bed.  This morning we
were invited to breakfast by “Baby Chefs” (Bruce Morley) sister Margaret and brother-in-law Bruce.  I carried the flag for the first 5
kilometers.  After a rest I continued on the 3rd leg which took us up over the winding, steep climb up Coolongolook hill.  For me this
was some feat.  I thought our 5ks would be at the servo down the road but our intrepid school locator, Graig, found us another one at
Coolongolook.  The children were waiting for us so more high fives all around.  These children were excited.  I guess this is something
they don’t get to be part of very often.  Back in the bus again waiting at the end of the next 5ks.  We stopped for lunch at a nice rest spot
where we had a visit from an ex submariner greenie.  We carried on to Buladelah and are settling into our cabin.  Onto Karuah
tomorrow.  PS I forgot to say I spent one and half hours at the internet café at Nabiac clearing my email box.  I still have to get my
mobile broadband sorted.

Richard (Slug) Lewin
A  good day for walking.   Another school along the way,  Coolongolook.  Feathers does keep finding them.  As if we needed to walk an
extra 1.8 kilometers on top of we already had to do.  Love to my wife and family.

Ray (Jock) Copeland
Great sleep at the Nabiac Hotel, then Baby Chefs brother in law cooked us a big breakfast.  I decided to miss the 1st and 3rd leg today
so 20 kilometers will be my limit.  Met Gordon Smith at one of our rest stops.  He donated a $100 to our cause.  Walked with Pete
Sellars, for 2 hours, reminiscing and solving the problems of the world.  Looking forward tomorrow and an easy day.

Barry (Engines) and Cathy Davis
Got in our 20k each today.  Got a surprise at lunch stop when Gordon Smith found us and presented Carol with $100 as his
sponsorship for Cathy and I.  Many thanks Gordon.  Madam Sellars got her 1st warning today for charging ahead of the field.  Will this
family never learn?

Adrian (Pete) and Barb Sellars
Another day in heaven.  Beautiful weather, great company and my (Barb) 1st warning – only 2 to go.  I think Engines has got it in for the
Sellars family.  Were only trying to pick up the pace.  Quick trip to the school at Coolongolook and a wonderful breakfast at Bruce and
Margarets.  Many thanks for your hospitality.  Into Bulahdelah tonight.

Craig (Feathers) Fothergill
What a difference a digit makes.  Whilst ringing the caravan park at Nabiac to check on our booking I put in  a wrong digit and got Bruce
and Margaret, who turn out to be Pat Morleys sister, who had been looking for us and thought she must have missed us somewhere.
What a magnificent breakfast of sausages, egg, bacon, toast, tea, coffee etc and a quick chat to Baby Chef on the phone.  Organised a
little detour to visit the 35 children at Coolongolook Public School.

Possum and Dale
Awake at 0600 and begin our normal routine.  At 0630 panic hits.  No one to be seen.  I’d forgoton the plans made last night at the
beaut bistro of the Nabiac pub and thought that everyone had, having had enough of ny grumps, left us to our own resources.  Then I
see me mates Richard (Slug) case outside the van and realized that we hadn’t been dumped.  Even if it was only due to the fact that
the team need Dale (Bluey) and the van.
